Also received my Q68.
Of course I forgot to order a power cable, but fortunately I have a few non-functioning power bricks with the right barrel plug, and plenty of old USB cables, so it didn't take long to cobble one together.
Annoyingly, my puppy chewed the cable on my only working PS/2 keyboard ...

Re: Q68 Order Process
I don't have immediate plans for I²C, and I suspect that if/when I do need it, I would be okay with soldering on my own connector.

Re: Q68 Order Process
Hi Derek,
Great that this is going ahead. The delay is completely understandable, and out of your control.
Happy to pay a deposit if you need it.
It looks likely you could still get them shipped before the next batch of Spectrum Nexts!

Re: Yet Another QL Keyboard Conversion
I haven't done anything with LEDs yet. I'm wondering if the Q68 could be made to drive them.
I'm afraid the answer ist no, as the Q68 PS/2 controller for keyboard is unidirectional. Sorry for this, but I never look at the Capslock LED and simplified the logic somewhat.
I was thinking more along ...

Re: Target for major new QL hardware
Sorry if this has already been covered elsewhere in the thread, but do you plan to do anything with the QL case LEDs?

Re: Yet Another QL Keyboard Conversion
Nice work, and definitely more professional than the USB keyboard driver I’ve recently completed ;)
Thanks! Though you probably wouldn't say that if you saw the soldering around the back of the board...
Apologies for posting on the same thread, but to avoid creating yet another another USB ...

Re: Target for major new QL hardware
Errrr, you don't sell them by any chance?
No. I just spent €23 on one from Sintech Deutschland. I guess cheap is a relative term. I can understand that a replacement membrane for a 38 year old computer that wasn't a best seller in its day, is something of a niche product, and won't benefit from ...

Re: Target for major new QL hardware
I agree with this. A new membrane is a pretty cheap upgrade, and the replacement ones feel a lot more durable than the Sinclair ones (I seem to recall they were fragile even back in the '80s).Peter wrote:But honestly, just getting a replacement membrane makes more sense to me than extending the wiring.

Re: Hi from Ireland
Before making any decision you might want to read the 'Target for major new QL hardware' thread. This is a proposed new board to fit into an empty ql case.
Yes, I've been reading up on it. It looks very interesting.
