I would not pay a penny for Quill on Ebay cause it probably will be the text processor and not the adventure creator.
The point is to check if any of us has it on its old cartridge and then share it to the community. No payment nor license.
Phoebus was in talks with the owner and coder of this software. Just not a single copy of the last version for QL of it.

About Global Shipping that is a simple concept...
The buyer (let's suppose from EU zone) buy something into UK (with global shipping). Thanks that Ebay now has a proxy (similar than other platforms have implemented (ie AliExp), the buyer knows very well the whole amount of money. Shipping, cost of the product and taxes to pay TO Ebay.

Ebay take care about the rest, so it deal with custom borders, clearance, whatever from UK to its proxy into EU zone.

Once there, Ebay re-ship it to the final customer (the buyer), and the buyer HAS NOT to pay a penny else. because it is a regular shipping from EU2EU.
That is the concept and how it works.

How do it internally Ebay to deal with the taxes, border clearance, off... that doesn't matter, it is transparent for us. While it keeps not regulated (over-regulated) by the political party on charge (EU loves too much to regulate everything), then it will work like that.

I have bought some things from UK by that system and it is nice. I pay almost the same, but:
1. My courier company cannot cheat me any more with extra fees or services that they doesn't do at all.
2. I know on payment, the final cost for me.
3. The seller doesn't care if I am inside EU or UK, the extra charge is on me.
4. All is legal, till some corrupt party decide to put its hands on that money again.
5. I don't need to do any custom form or complicates procedure and give it to my border clearance any more.

:)

OK, Still looking for the Quill create adventure :P

Great news! can you send it to me, too? I have A00 and A01 and some sort of QUILL Decompiler (I think this one is PD? It's from a QL User Group) that can decompile Spectrum and Amstrad QUILL games but then the code needs QUILL v06 or newer to be compiled back as a QL game.

If it were for the community, I would collaborate in purchase of it, digitalize it and then share it with everyone.
But... how we never know if works or not, if it is what they said even... if the software is free for distribution... I would not pay a penny for it.

There's someone on eBay bidding very high sums of money for original QL software to ensure they win every auction (including duplicates), regardless of what the items are actually worth

I think I'll give up completely on my software collection for now. Am willing to pay above the value to a degree but not stupidly

Here is a link to thd Adventurers Podcast, with a conversation with Tim Gilberts:
Tim Gilberts published legendary text adventure creation systems The Quill and Professional Adventure Writer (PAW) through family publishing house Gilsoft in the 1980s. These products became the basis for hundreds of commercial games, many developed and sold as part of a late direct-to-consumer wave of adventure development in the late 1980s into the 1990s. Dave and Jason discuss with Tim the origins of The Quill and its successors, the reasons for its success and lasting impact, and Tim's connections to gaming today.
