Quill from Gilsoft

Post by Popopo »

Hi all!
I am looking for Quill version A08, from Giltsoft
That is a software to create graphic adventures or conversational.
Have anyone a copy of it? (The most recently or higher than A01).

Thank you very very much.

Yes, I am looking for that, too. I have versions A00 and A01, but I could not find anything newer :(

Phoebus is looking for A08, I think he got A01, but it has some bugs and not the best option.
I'm asking for it in every place where I know are some QL Users. Just in case someone could have a copy of it.

if you ever find it, please let me know.
That would (probably) help me to port some Spectrum and Amstrad CPC games to QL

I notice there is a copy of The Quill for sale on eBay.
No idea what version it is though.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/305613511362
I did some bidding on it but bailed out before reaching the previous bidder's max.
(Hope it wasn't someone here.)

It was, but not expecting to win. 2 others were sold recently and I didn’t get them either

Software is selling for a lot more these days and I’m not willing to pay stupid prices!

Hi,

I was going to bid on this, but at £17 is too much.

However, I havd ACT by Digitial Precision, which looks the same, also runs on the Q68, not sure if Quill would.

Regards,

Derek

Sorry to go off topic a little with this. eBay in the UK have now started implementing something called the Global Shipping Programme to help make it easier for sellers to send stuff abroad. When a buyer outside the UK orders something, if the seller has opted into the program, the seller sends the package to a central eBay shipping centre in the UK and eBay themselves take care of customs paperwork and shipping from the UK. The buyer still pays international postage, but if I've understood it properly the postage payment gets split between what the seller spends on sending to the eBay GSP handler and eBay themselves for the international part. Looks in the T&Cs as though if it goes missing after leaving the UK, any claim is against eBay rather than the seller in most circumstances as they are the shipping agent (I'll admit I'm still studying the T&Cs so might not have got this fully right)

I've just started opting into it for the records and CDs I sell on eBay (fairly low value transactions so it doesn't matter too much if it doesn't go right at first), but don't fully understand it yet, waiting for my first overseas order to see how well I understand it, now I've opted into it.

I expect that a lot of sellers either aren't aware of it yet, or maybe aren't confident enough to start using it, fearing how complicated it may be (and it does look complex at first glance). There are many differences for private sellers like me and business sellers, e.g. business sellers would need to register with an organisation in Germany and put forward a registration number to be able to send some product categories to Germany.

As people get used to the facility and as more sellers start to use it to help comply with post-Brexit paperwork and customs matters, it might just make it easier for UK sellers to reach overseas markets, and hopefully make it easier for QL users overseas to access products from the UK on eBay.
