Hi Derek
Is there still one unit left unclaimed?
What was the spec of the QXL (as opposed to the QXL II you originally posted)? What price did you have in mind?Derek_Stewart wrote:I have 2 QXL cards which could be built into a Black ATX case.

Re: QXL2 and PC Motherboard - SOLD
Hi,
The QXL models are:
QXL
68EC040RC40
20 Mhz
QXLII
68EC040RC50
25Mhz
Memory is upto 8Mb.
I used to use the QXL as a QNET server to the Q60 or QPC2 via SERNET.
I have fitted the 68RC040 with FPU which works well. This is the same CPU as in the Q40.
I have not put the remaining QXL cards up for sale due other hardware projects. But I have sohrced some Black ATX cases which could uded with the QXL and the K6 motherboard.

Re: QXL2 and PC Motherboard - SOLD
Hi again Derek
Sorry, I got a bit lost in this thread - could you confirm which QXLs are still available, and at what cost?
I'm definitely interested in one QXL (or QXLII) - I've still got an ISA mobo sitting around somewhere.

Re: QXL2 and PC Motherboard - SOLD
Silly question, but aren't the CPUs running at full speed, with the clock being half the frequency of the CPU and a tick being on each change of the CLK? Or are they really running at half speed?

Re: QXL2 and PC Motherboard - SOLD
Hi Dave,
The 68040 CPU divides the system clock by 2, so on the QXL running at 20Mhz has a 40 Mhz oscillator fitted. The QXL II has a 50Mhz oscillator fitted to run at 25Mhz.
There are 68040 to 68060 adapters designed in the Amiga world that allow a 68060 CPU to be fitted into a 68040 socket. The main problem is that the 68040 runs with 5v and 68060 uses 3.3v. So the adapter has 2 boards separating the 5v from the 3.3v sections.
Whether this would work on a QXL II is unknown. I have 2 kits to make up to see if this is the case. The thought of a QXL II running at 50Mhz with no alteration to the QXL board, is worth trying.
There maybe issues with the QL Network timmings.
