New Q60 Boards

Post by Derek_Stewart »

I am wondering if there is a demand for more Q60 boards, which D&D System used to sell.

Except, I would only want to produce a Q60 with 80Mhz 680LC60 with MMU, but without a FPU.

There is a problem with the VGA output when in 1024x512 Mode 33 not working correctly on modern TFT monitors.
I used to use a 17" CRT SVGA monitor, but these monitors are very expensive or not available.

The OSSC video converter could be used to convert the video signal on the Q60. But the OSSC is very expensive, but is open source, maybe the hardware could be customised for the Q60.

Just thoughts here...

I will look into production of Q60 later this year as I have some Q68 to build.

I might be interested Derek - but just wondering if the video issue might be resolved by having the video fed through a Belkin KVM switch? It seems to deal with a wide range of video input signals from various 'VGA' devices, is there any way of testing that video frequency / sync rate against it? - by which I meant it's possible to alter the video output of a Raspberry Pi to produce all sorts of standard and not so standard frequencies, and if I could emulate the same with an RPI, I could test if it would work with my setup.

I'd need some details of the video front porch / backporch timings, sync polarity, video frequencies and sync frequencies.

I will look out my notes, I did measurd the Q60 Video output.

I could use another Qx0 mainboard, even without CPU, even if I have to repair, but within the next few weeks.
If you have something for me, please email.

I can offer an alternative video logic which produces 1024x768, but with black bar in the bottom.

Hi Peter

I may already have a LCD Chip.

Asmention above I have some Q60 boards, but I do not like selling anything that doesn't work. I am not Qbranch which was his practice to derl everything whether it worked or not.

The point of this thread, was to see if there was any interest in a POSSIBLE remake of the Q60.

Which this will be done after June.

1) What is a Q60 Board?

2) What is needed, that it can be used (except Monitor, keyboard, power supply)?

If it can run QDOS (e.g. Minerva) or SMSQ/E I would be definitely interested. Depending on the price I would eventually order two.
