Talent 3D Designer
Does anyone remember using/seeing this program running.
I'm trying to get a copy working, but I get some flashing 'interference' across the top of the screen.
The interference is the system variables, as the program switches between the dual screen modes.
I'm just wondering if this is normal, or do I have other problems. I know it's difficult to do away with the system variables entirely. So I could understand it being normal.

Hi Folks,
Ok, so you can show static 3d objects with the Talent program, or rotate them.
But why not include them in 3D animations, once you have the x, y & z coordinates ?
Take a look at orbiter3D_bas, a game posted on the QL Forum a couple of years ago....
Try an instrument landing of a pod in a 4D scene of tumbling objects following different trajectories !
It is coded in SuperBasic, so you can examine it. (But there is an F1/F2 key bug on some PCs that needs a quick fix).
If there is any interest, I will try to see how to make the program more generalist, for easy user-adaptation. Regards, Steve.

Animations...
Sounds good to me
...
How could it be to get an feature to allows export it and add it into games?
For example, for a tank 3D game.
I have no idea if my question is too naive.

There is already a version of BattleZone available for the QL.

Re: Talent 3D Designer
Hi Folks,
The readme file with BattleZone states that the game is wriiten for QDOS, and is only playable on a SuperGoldCard.
The program is EXECed, so it would be difficult to adapt it for other systems. After the holidays, I will try it at home on SGC.
A Tank game in 3D with all sorts of perspective views would be an interesting challenge I might take up. As for the ballistics...
At present I am trying to perfect the QL drummer program, now in the optimisation stage. Thuds, taps & rolls, and on music scoresheets.

Oh I have not SGC but the source code seems very interesting to learn from it.stevepoole wrote: Sun Sep 01, 2024 7:09 pm The readme file with BattleZone states that the game is wriiten for QDOS, and is only playable on a SuperGoldCard.

Even if there is already a game about it... it is always nice (for me) to do a particular version (for learning purpose), and adding new and more features to the original one.
Perhaps a collaboration among some enthusiasts to do something funny for QL in that kind of environments (Original Sinclair QL) could be a nice challenge.
The idea of different perspectives sounds good. If a ZX 48K could manage 3D environments, then a 68K QL & 128K must do it too.
Sounds... good to me.

PD:
@swensont thanks for the file.

CBZone is written in C, supplied with source code, ported from the Atari ST.swensont wrote: Sun Sep 01, 2024 6:13 pm >For example, for a tank 3D game.

Tried cbzone on a QPC2. Runs, but is way too fast to be playable.

Re: Talent 3D Designer
sQLux has the ability to be slowed down. I've used that to get CBZone to run at a reasonable speed. It's not the most responsive, but that might be tweak-able.
