Amstrad CPC6128 (partially working) £FREE

Post by Sparrowhawk »

Hi,

I have rather too many old computers, including two CPC6128s. I'm keeping one, but have the other + the matching colour monitor that I'd like to give to a retro-loving home. No cost, unless you want to donate something to a charity of your choice (not required and I won't ask for proof even if you do)

It's a standard UK QWERTY keyboard layout.

Caveats:
- pick up in person only, I'm afraid (near Bath, UK)
- disk drive does not work - not sure if it's the belt or more serious - could be replaced by a gotek if latter. It starts up, there is a whirring sound, but nothing reads.
- keys are in that lovely "nicotine brown" that CPCs seem prone to when ageing. The case itself is nice and clean though.
- no software included
- no manual included

Ideally, as a thank you to the QL hackers out there, I'd love for it to go to somebody who has done some software or hardware project that has benefitted us all, but if not then it's still going to a QL home, so that's fine ;)

Hi,

I can not get to Bath, but I can pay for postage for the CPC128, not interested in the monitor.

Hi,

I live very close to Bath, so could easily come around and pick it up. I've been made redundant today (given where I live, from reading the news you may be able to guess where I worked), so I could devote some time to this.

I've not contributed as much as many on here, but I can claim to have helped submit some features into sQLux (sound, joystick, keyboard language variants, matching CPU speed, post processing to emulate a CRT on an LCD etc).

Thanks

Can vouch for Exile's work on sQLux, it has been awesome and essential to the project!

Probably the best solution.

Exile: Sounds great. I'll PM you and we can get something sorted. Also I'm sorry to hear about the redundancy, been there, done that, it sucks.

Derek: I didn't want to post it due to size/bulk and I'd rather not be left with the monitor as I would just take it to recycling and that would be a shame. Sorry about that.
