MDUMP TASK ?
MDUMP TASK ?
I bought the v2 QEmulator package for MacOS and reading the manual mentions MDUMP TASK utility for imaging microdrives - except I don't seem to have it in my QL Software folder as expected. I don't see it as a download on the QEM site, nor can I find it in the usual suspects.....
What or where am I missing something ?

Re: MDUMP TASK ?
It's in the install location of qemulator, which for me is Program Files (x86)/Q-emulator/Ql Software/FileUtil/

Ask me about felt pads - I can cut them to size and they have proven excellent for mdv data recovery.

Yeah on a MacOS that's not there - there is a folder "QL Software" but I don't see it there.
However I did find a floppy IMG file of it but when I try to run EW MDUMP_TASK it throws up because HEX$, REPORT and something else aren't loaded.

Put TK2 in the "back ROM" slot.QViewStu wrote:However I did find a floppy IMG file of it but when I try to run EW MDUMP_TASK it throws up because HEX$, REPORT and something else aren't loaded.
Re: MDUMP TASK ?
I already have Tk2 in the QL as part of Trump Card and Minerva

Well, both "HEX$" and "REPORT" are in TK2, so maybe it needs a "TK2_EXT" call to activate it?QViewStu wrote:I already have Tk2 in the QL as part of Trump Card and Minerva
Re: MDUMP TASK ?
imho mdump is a microdrive dump program so i would try with a microdrive image
settings for Q-emulator

Re: MDUMP TASK ?
If it's helpful - I think you can specify upto 80K of ROM image for the first file - so you can concatenate ROM Images together
e.g. 48K QL ROM + 16K (for ROMPORT) + 16K (this would be in the first 16K reserved space - where gold, trump etc. sit) - You can't then use backrom.

Re: MDUMP TASK ?
It is. But I think the only place you'd really want to use mdump_task would be on a real QL to make dumps of real cartridges. I can't think of a use for it in an emulator.desin wrote:imho mdump is a microdrive dump program so i would try with a microdrive image
And it certainly requires an original Sinclair main ROM too, it doesn't work with Minerva.
