13th Sinclair QL Italian meeting

The 13th Sinclair QL Italian meeting will take place on Sunday 20th November at DTM Technologies premises in Modena. We will start around 10:00 and the meeting will continue till 17:00 with a break of one hour for lunch in a tipical “tigelleria” in the nearby shopping center. As for the last two Italian meetings we will organize educational sessions, we will have presentation of ongoing projects in Italy and we will organize teleconferences with international users. It will also be possible to take part to the meeting by web-conference. As there will be limited accesses, priority will be given to historical users and users who would like to connect from abroad (at least for the sessions in English language). Details on how to connect to the web-conference will be provided separately to the interested persons. English sessions most likely will be planned in the afternoon also to allow people from US to attend.

We are especially looking forward to anybody who would like to give even very short presentations of the ongoing projects (software or hardare) even if we are talking of minor updates.

As we are one month away from the event a quick reminder.

The 13th Sinclair QL Italian meeting will take place on Sunday 20th November at DTM Technologies premises in Modena. We will have (most likely in the afternoon) a session in English which might be attended via skype or Web-EX if anybody is interested.

We are especially looking for anybody who would like to give presentations of the ongoing projects even if we are talking of minor updates.

So far there are still "seats" available for the English web-ex users who would like to attend to the English sessions. As we have no presentations from outside Italy the subjects we will cover will be 100% from the Italian community:

For personal reasons, but especially given the recent discussions leading to the closure of the Italian QL mailing list (read-only mode now), I inform you that I shall not participate in the meeting.

I'm really disappointed because it was a good opportunity to show "on air" the last developments of the preservation project and the BBS Sinclair with all new features created specifically to be used by a QL.

We will continue with our projects in a totally independent way and we will share all with you as always.

A big thank you to all the people who have supported and will continue to do so.

Hi All,

I of course regret Simone will not attend.

I equally find of bad taste that he uses this post on the meeting announcing he will not attend, to give a negative view both on the the Sinclair QL Italian mailing list and his community, and on an event (the QL Italian meeting) which he did not organize and for which he was invited as special guest. Being organizer of the QL Italian meetings since 1995 and being moderator of the Sinclair QL Italian mailing list, I deserve a few explanations:

1) The meeting is confirmed, there will be several other QL topics to discuss

2) The Italian Sinclair QL mailing has been temporarily suspended yesterday night. As moderator I could not accept that a flame started a few hours before, and born as usal for trivial reasons between two users, could have spoiled, as unfortunately did at least partially, the meeting that I organized together with the help of other volunteers. Furthermore being today and tomorrow full time on meeting preparation I could not have followed in any way further discussions. So my decision was to suspend posts till further notice. Nobody of course should have cared here about what happened in the QL Italian mailing list but following the above post I owed a clarification on the reasons why I temporarily stopped posts being moderator.

Having said this I look forward to a successful meeting tomorrow and I again post here the web-ex link for the English session starting tentatively 14:30.
