I have just been speaking with someone who has taken their UK QLs with them to the USA - they have a step-up transformer to provide 240V AC to the UK power supply.
However, whenever they try to access either mdv1_ or mdv2_, the microdrive units just spin endlessly, until the QL is reset.
As both microdrive units are affected similarly, it seems unlikely to be the microdrive units themselves.
The QL appears to work flawlessly otherwise.
Any suggestions as to what might be the issue ?
The service manual suggests renew TR6 or TR7 - but presumably there is one for each microdrive - so I wonder if the steup-up transformer might have caused both of these to fail?

Re: QL Microdrive Problem
Ben Versteeg has been repairing some ZX Microdrive units and his findings may help others having problems with their QL microdrives - see:
