Nice!!!
Do you have the changelog?

I remember someone told me the changes between versions, could be great to summon all what everyone knows in that matter and do a changelog.
That is history of that soft.

Sorry folks, it turns out that QuillA06 file was corrupt. The disk it was on has wrecked 2 disk drives already, so I'm not touching it again!

Cheers,
Alan

Just popped in to say Hi to Alan.

Fond memories of doing the AP adventures on the QL.

As the the kickstarter 3 Spectrum Next has a QL core as standard, but not much software, would it be possible for the Public Domain software
be made available to run on the Next QL core ?

(I have yet to open the Next KS2 that i got last time - life got in the way, but I'm hopeful I can get into the KS3 when it arrives.)

I've no idea how these cores work but sticking them on an SD card with all the necessary stuff for them to work straight off may be possible ?

I'd like to avoid file format shenanigans. (I'd imagine most Next users won't be familiar with QL file formats )

Hi Richard,

Thanks, those were fun times. I only just returned to the fold this year.

I went ahead and bought an Xberry pi (KS1 clone) to try out the QL core. I can't see anyone who hasn't dabbled with the QL before (and preferably recently) staying the course till they work out how to download games, unzip them within QODS, transfer them to the QXL.win file, put them into a subdirectory, then persuade them to boot and run properly from that subdirectory.

I've got 8 games so far working successfully on subdirectories of my win file, and that involved patching Beano and Starplod (luckily I still have the source files!). I believe that flp and mdv images will be supported at a later date. If you could choose which image to boot from in advance, that would really simplify things and bring a lot of new users to the QL.

Cheers,
Alan

Please, can you load the patched Starplod version on the forum?

Hi,

FLP and MDV images are supported on the Next QL core, using FDI and MDI, this works on my Xberry Pi and KS2 Next.

Any QLWA file canbe mounted as long as the file resides in the first 16 FAT enties,

The NEXT QL core has a default of QXL1.WIN, QXL2.WIN ... for WIN1, WIN2...

But this can be overidded with the WIN_DRIVE command.

Since the Next QL core documenrtation is lacking, no one seems to know all this.

Subdire torues can be assigned to devices like FLP1 with Phol Borman's SUB extensions.

All the games like Star Plod, Voyage of Beano can be played on the system by defining a device with SUB.

Or put the files in a FLP image and use FDI to mount the FLP image as a QDOS device.

Thanks very much for this Derek, most useful stuff that I didn't know about before!

That will allow me to get more games onto my win file. As you say, this needs to be documented better, and presumably will by the time KS3 is launched, along with more features possibly.

Cheers,
Alan
