Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold
Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold
If you think it might be expensive to order a case from Europe to the USA, there's a couple of QIMSI Gold case models on Thingiverse for 3D printing, if you can find someone near to you to 3D print it:

Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold
Thank you.
I found one of my friends here may be able to print a STL so I sent him this one to see.

I guess I need to find the right small screws and nuts to work with it. I guess Amazon is my friend with that. haha
Thanks for your links. I checked them out but neither make mention if they work with the RTC or not. Wonder if they do?
The one I link to above supposedly does so that is good.
I decided to order my QIMSI with RTC.

Sinclair Computers are AWESOME!!
Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold
The one I use (which came from a user in Sweden) came with a cut-out in the base which accommodates the battery etc under the board in the RTC version of QIMSI Gold. Although it means it doesn't cover the entire circuit board, it is underneath the unit when it's plugged into a QL, so doesn't gather dust.
And I suppose if it bothered me, I could put a piece of black insulating tape across it.

Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold
Hi,
I have some SLA printed cases, from an STL downloaded, but the bezel for the I/O connectors needs a little modification to fit into the case.
The case looks better than the one shown, I will post some photos.
I need to alter the designation of the Mouse and Keyboard from USB.
I do not have a QIMSI Gold yet.

Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold
Hi all.
When I knew the QIMISI Gold was launched, I thought it was a great oportunity to improve my QL and to dive into the SMSQ/E system. I got one to get working, but soon I realized I wasn't preprared yet because I'm a relatively new QL user. Sice then, I've been learnig more and more about the QL and finally I thought it's time to start again.
Recently I got the micro SD to get prepared for standard and gold modes. I tried the different OS options: Minerva for Q68 and finally, SMSQ/E, but with some issues. Maybe they aren't related to QIMSI Gold, but some of them have been mentioned in this thread:
As mentioned here, I've executed MenuConfig this way:
After changing some options, saving configuration and a reset, everything remains the same. I know I can do some things using commands (such as changing the keyboard table), but I've like to know why MenuConfig doesn't seem to work properly.
Regards,
Javi

- My UK QL keyboard seems to work well, but some keys are changed in their place.
- I've added diferent WIN a QUB containers after the QLWA.WIN, but I only can access to win1_ and win8_.
As mentioned here, I've executed MenuConfig this way:
Code: Select all
LRUN win8_boot

Hi Javi,
Also please note, that you need a correct Qubide container. Directly reading a harddisk with an IDE adaptor on a PC will result in a Intel style byte-swapped image not suitable for 68K.
Peter
You need the UK version of QL_ROM.SYS and SMSQ/E configured to UK.javier2112 wrote: Mon Apr 21, 2025 1:39 pm [*] My UK QL keyboard seems to work well, but some keys are changed in their place.
In order to use Qubide containers, you need to configure SMSQ/E accordingly.javier2112 wrote: Mon Apr 21, 2025 1:39 pm [*] I've added diferent WIN a QUB containers after the QLWA.WIN, but I only can access to win1_ and win8_.

Are you sure that you had saved your actual SMSQ/E binary and not just the configuration?javier2112 wrote: Mon Apr 21, 2025 1:39 pm After changing some options, saving configuration and a reset, everything remains the same. Thank your quick answer. I checked all your suggestions before writing here and everything seemed OK but the QL_ROM.SYS file. I might copied the wrong file accidentally, I fixed it and now the keyboard works as expected.
On the other hand, today, after switching on my QL, I realized all links for partitions were fine, so wondered why. I guess QIMSI needs a full reset to load the new QL_ROM.SYS, doesn't it?

QIMSI Gold+ trump or gold card
Hi all,
I have a rather naive question Can I use the QISMI Gold together with trump or Gold card?

I don't know about Gold Card, but I think you may use the Trump Card and the QIMSI Gold if your operating system is Minerva. Read carefully here:
https://github.com/janbredenbeek/Minerva4Q68
If you have extension ROMs that insist on being placed in the $C000 slot, you may include them by placing the image in the build directory under the name xc000_rom. The keyboard and SD-card driver images will then be relocated to the $10000-$17FFF area and linked in after the xc000_rom extension. Note that you may include an extension ROM either at $C000 or $14000, but not at both locations as the total size of Minerva plus Q68 drivers plus extension ROM is limited to 96K!
Re: QIMSI Gold+ trump or gold card
Yes, but only as a standard QIMSI (in QIMSI gold mode it only uses power, keyboard & joystick ports of the QL)mhanias wrote: Mon Apr 21, 2025 7:22 pm Hi all,

JM/JS/Minerva are all fine with Trump or gold card + QIMSI standard mode
