QIMSI Gold - Spanish K/B driver beta, release

Post by Maskenlos »

Hi all,

finally the QIMSI Gold speaks Spanish.

I am happy to share the Spanish K/B driver for QIMSI Gold in a very early stage. It is only briefly tested, so kindly share your experience here to further improve. Once ready I would ask Dilwyn to store it on his webpage.

So what to do:

1. Unpack the attachment and rename the file to: QL_ROM.SYS
2. Backup your data or use fresh card
3. Replace the current keyboard driver (UK or GER) with the new one
4. Boot up and enter in SMSQ/E

Code: Select all

 KBD_TABLE 34
5. Report your experience here

Thanks Chr$ for helping out with a QL keyboard to make my life easier.

Best Regards,

Stephan

Hola Stephano,

many thanks for all the work and cleverness you have put into this. QIMSI Gold was especially cherished in Spain, and I'm glad they can now use their specific QL keyboards with the accelerated CPU. After some feedback has arrived, I'll have a look how to best integrate into the support ROM build system.

A problem might be to bring the news to all Spanish users - not everybody will follow this forum thread. I will edit the initial post of the announcement topic, so it is a bit easier to see.

Muchas gracias!

Thanks You for the driver, I will test this weekend as soon as I have some spare time for the QL.

And don't worry, for sure most of the spanish user will know it soon.

Hi Maskenlos,

What great news! I want to thank you (and Peter, of course) for developing and offering the community that keyboard driver for the "impressive" Qimsi Gold device. Not only have you done an exceptional job, but you also provide phenomenal support and help to all QL users. Thanks a lot!

I have now integrated Stephan's lastest work into the common build system of the QIMSI Gold support ROM, so the project can be maintained collectively for UK, US, DE, SP in case of future changes. There are no functional changes to what Stephan has released above, so I do not re-release.

Meticulous testing from Spanish users is welcome. ;)

Hi,

I always wondered when SMSQ/E introduced multiple language whether the language files could be loaded as modules, as Tony Tebby, hinted that SMSQ/E is a modular operating system.

The advantage other users could write their own Language files rather than relying on the authors of the operating system or hardware vendor, maybe this was dismissed as a wild flight of fancy or maybe I dream alot about future events, that may not happen.

However, Minerva can support type of loadable language support.

Derek

Hi all,

I just replaced the file in the first post of this thread by a bugfixed version.
Current version is 1.03

No changes in UK and GER versions.

Best regards,

Stephan

I always thought, it was/is the the same way, Minerva has introduced, loading separate language files. The procedure was very practical and could have been used in SMSQ/E too.

If In write a new Language module, how do I load the module into SMSQ/E.

Sorry if this is off topic.
