Forum font
Forum font
Tried searching on the Forum for an answer to something that's happened this morning with the fonts when I go on the Forum.
For whatever reason, it's started using a much larger font than normal, as though the browser was zooming everything and I see far less words on a line - the browser is showing 100% as zoom level so it can't be that.
Had a quick look, I can't see ways to change the font used that's accessible to the user within the Forum. Anyone any ideas? Tried restarting the PC and browser, no change.
I far preferred the smaller font I was seeing up until this morning.
Only me being negative, but I feel recently like I spend more time pursuing niggling little computer problems than actually getting anything done (probably been reading too much Computeractive where they are so positive about everything and all the readers complain about everything in sight!)

Re: Forum font
My guess is youve got Windows doing the zooming, the forum font is built into the theme and doesnt change!
Re: Forum font
I understand what you're saying. No other program windows or browser tabs or pages are affected (if Windows was, say, trying to use a different font or zooming or I'd accidentally initiated an Accessibility setting I'd expect more program to be affected), only the Forum. The browser shows 100% for zooming when displaying the Forum, so it's not browser zooming at least and other pages look as normal as they ever do.XorA wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 2:38 pm My guess is youve got Windows doing the zooming, the forum font is built into the theme and doesnt change!
At least that clarifies that the font is built into the theme, so I hadn't missed Forum settings.
It just perplexed me that suddenly today things are just different with no obvious reason why or me being aware I'd done anything to affect it.
It's possible I'm looking at this the wrong way round. What I'm seeing now might be what I'm supposed to see. That up until today I was actually seeing the wrong layout, that it was zoomed out with smaller than intended text before today and I'd got used to it like that then suddenly today something unknown happened and now I'm seeing it as it should be!

Re: Forum font
Thanks Dave, but they don't seem to do anything in Edge and aren't listed in the list of shortcut keys either.
Ctrl + and Ctrl - are listed for Zoom though. A Ctrl - takes it back to text size I had yesterday, so I must at some point in the past have accidentally pressed Ctrl - to get to 90% and somehow reset and got back to 100% today. I prefer 90%!
Problem solved.

Re: Forum font
Hi Dilwyn,
I don;t have Windows or Edge, so I cannot confirm one way of the other, sorry.
Cheers,
Norm.
apparently it's CTRL+Scroll (on the mouse) to adjust the Edge font size on the fly. This works on Firefox too, as does CTRL+ and CTRL- (with or without SHIFT).dilwyn wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 6:54 pm Thanks Dave, but they don't seem to do anything in Edge and aren't listed in the list of shortcut keys either.

Re: Forum font
Yup, confirmed. A bit wild on my mouse though, a single control-scroll will sometimes do a double or triple zoom, far easier with CTRL - and CTRL + on keyboard.NormanDunbar wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 8:07 pm

Re: Forum font
I agree about the scroll thing. Exactly the same on Linux, way too much magnification, or de-magnification!dilwyn wrote: Sun Jan 05, 2025 8:16 pm Yup, confirmed. Re: Forum font
Yeah, thanks Dave. It was one of those fairly harmless but infuriating things that was irritating me. Your suggestion put me on the right track to resolving it.
Now can you do the same for my insomnia?
