QIMSI Gold - getting started
Re: QIMSI Gold - getting started
Looks like an invalid SMSQ/E container. This is could be caused by a fragmented file. Please read the manual.

Re: QIMSI Gold - getting started
yup - that's exactly what I did - as per my initial post. I followed the directions in the manual to format the card, and then copied the files from the ZIP in the order specified. I'll give it another go and see if there is any difference.
Re: QIMSI Gold - getting started
Yes, please try to re-format the SD card. Copy all files again from Dilwyn's side in the correct sequence.

Re: QIMSI Gold - getting started
Marvellous, everything (seems to be) working.
I tried once again on Mac, which produced the same result.
I then tried on Windows and this time the machine boots into what I think is SMSQ/E.
It would seem the lack of the "format size adjustment" option in SD Card Formatter on MacOS was the cause, it might be worth making a note of this in the manual. Perhaps the tool has changed since publication (it actually asked me to update a day after installing it, lol
)
What would be the recommend approach for getting stuff onto the Win1_ container? e.g. software and so on, I have most of my stuff on a QubIDE which I suspect can't co-exist. Do I need to use an emulator to attach the container etc? Or is there an easier way to get files onto / into the container?
Thanks to all for their help.

Happy to hear that your QIMSI Gold is running now as expected. Good newsHarbars wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 5:18 pm ... this time the machine boots into what I think is SMSQ/E.

To transfer your software you may use an emulator, but the tool "QXLwinreader" is working great:

I have no idea if it works on a Mac, just in case

If not mistaken, the topic "data transfer" has been discussed in the other QIMSI Gold thread as well. You may consider to check there as well

Re: QIMSI Gold - getting started
If your QubIDE is configured not to use $C000...$FFFF, it can coexist. Some people have used QubIDE that way. (QubIDE is not QubIDE though... too many variants and settings.) There are recurring questions/answers around this, which you might be able to find in the forum.Harbars wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 5:18 pm e.g. software and so on, I have most of my stuff on a QubIDE which I suspect can't co-exist.
You can copy your QubIDE files using the traditional QIMSI mode and go back to the accellerated CPU later.
Re: QIMSI Gold - getting started
Thanks, would you be able to detail how I go about switching to the traditional QIMSI mode?
