Hi there,
I have the Miracle Systems floppy drives and one seems to now be playing up.
I know they are NEC drives (but forgot to note the model no!), does anyone know what spec they are
and are they replaceable with different drives if the NEC is not available?
Thanks
BP.
Miracle Systems Double Floppy
Re: Miracle Systems Double Floppy
Disk drives rarely have to be replaced for defects. A bit of a clean and some maintenance normally makes them happy again.
Clean the heads with a cleaning disk or some cotton buds, put a bit of grease on the head slides, maybe give the spindle motor some tiny drops of oil and the drive should be fine. Miracle put various types of drives (ED, HD, DD) in their drive sets, and all types except former HD PC drives are pretty scarcely offered (thus sometimes go for ridiculous prices) on the market. Best is fix what you have instead of trying to buy replacements.
