Just added a QL port of a small text adventure called Catacombs originally written by C. Stow to the Adventures page on my website.
Trapped in the catacombs, you must locate the treasure and bring it to the main door to escape, but beware of trapdoors in the dark and a couple of somewhat unpleasant characters. Written in SuperBASIC, it's a small text adventure suitable for novice adventurers. Runs on unexpanded QL and on emulators.

Re: Catacombs
HI Dilwyn,
Looks great, I will have a look at this, thank you for the hard work.
I have converted some BASIC adventure games and run on QDOS, SMSQ/E systems, but having no graphics, I thought they were of no interest.

Hi DIlwyn
Looks very nice - we need more of this! Thank you!
Please post the games, there is interest for them. And graphics can be added to them

Re: Catacombs
Thank you both.
As it's not the most elaborate of adventures, I was hoping it would make a good entry level text adventure to encourage people to try text adventures on a QL. Even I managed to solve it (eventually!) - I'm usually hopeless at computer games.

Re: Catacombs
I'm sure that there are people here who are better at designing graphics than I am. Converting text adventures written in M$ BASIC is usually fairly straightforward, adding graphics need a bit more design skill.Derek_Stewart wrote: Thu Aug 29, 2024 7:09 am I have converted some BASIC adventure games and run on QDOS, SMSQ/E systems, but having no graphics, I thought they were of no interest.

Re: Catacombs
I like it
Text adventures like AD, my favorite company for text adventures for ZX.
Perhaps... could be interesting to port some to QL from ZX (graphics included).
If there are people interested on it, I could contact with man that could grant the licenses (if it is possible).
They use a parser that I cannot recall the name, but in Telegram they are very active and could get more info.
If the game is opensource, also I could collaborate in parts of it.
