Re: Viewdata terminal software: Any available to download?
I knew it must have been laying around somewhere in a software library. I guess this is the version with Dutch manual as Viewdata was already more or less obsolete when my BBS got international momentum, so I've never felt the need to translate this one. Google translate might do a good job here

Also, there is a small configuration program that lets you configure the default communication device so you don't have to specify it on the command string.

Hi
Here is the English translated manual in Text format:
Qview Cconfig file converted to English: I used Qstriper to convert to Text file, then displayed the text file in Google Chrome, click Translate to English, Copy text to new file and save.

Works well, except for the 'Viditel' name (this was actually a Dutch PTT trademark so I really should have asked permissionDerek_Stewart wrote: Tue Jun 25, 2024 7:25 am I used Qstriper to convert to Text file, then displayed the text file in Google Chrome, click Translate to English, Copy text to new file and save.

Viditel already ceased operation in 1989, which came of no surprise as it was much too expensive and not really interesting for hobbyists. Of course there were lots of other more or less professionally operated Viewdata BBs in NL. They all went out of service around 1995-2000.
Ironically, its TV-counterpart Teletext is still in use here, though probably viewed more frequently in the mobile app than on TV

What baud rate speed does QView try to use?
There doesn't seem to be a way to set it.

Actually, forget that. It doesn't seem to be talking to the serial port at all. (I used the config program to change the port.)
I connected the QL up to me US Robotics Courier and tested with that. I could use my terminal emulator to talk to it but QView didn't show any serial port activity.

Actually, Jan's version (direct) talks to the modem, but the version from RWAP doesn't.
Still not yet connecting remotely properly though.

OK, had to use the ser1i device, i.e. ew flp1_qview;"ser2i"
I can now see data from the other end, but it's not interpreting the Viewdata page. This is the Telstar landing frame:

Re: Viewdata terminal software: Any available to download?
@janbredenbeek is there a way to change the baud rate your terminal uses? I'm wondering if even the Hermes is failing to keep up. I'd like to drop the rate down to at least 2400 baud.
