What Issue board is it? I ask as, if an Iss5, the 8302 sits on the 'private' VRAM/8301 bus and would be impacted more by any anomalies with the 8301 ULA or memory/bus transceiver/address multiplexors (you know THAT story!)
Given that there have been issues with the 8302/DRAM in the past, the fault might still be in that half of the bus, but manifesting more obviously here...
Out of interest, if you set the RTC, does it keep running as expected after issuing repeated PRINT DATE() commands? Is the time maintained following a reset (via the reset button)?
