I'd love a 68060 QL assuming it was a sensible price.

I meant a new 68060 board. The historic board makes little sense because of the flatscreen monitor problem.Pr0f wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2024 8:38 am I've only ever seen a Q40 for sale - so the rarity value alone would mean a reasonable price tag, but then you are getting a significant upgrade to a QL!
OKay, sounds great, if we have a PCI Bus, and lots of new interface cards to plug in. The stumbling block is the the device driver to drive to PCI Card. Who writes that ? It was the same problem with the Q60, I had ISA card that would fit into the Q60 ISA Bus, but no device driver to drive hardware.Pr0f wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2024 8:38 am I've only ever seen a Q40 for sale - so the rarity value alone would mean a reasonable price tag, but then you are getting a significant upgrade to a QL!
A new 68060 design would probably need to use a PCI bus, which is becoming old technology now too, unless of course you go down the route of using a bespoke bus.
Multiprocessor might be a nice idea?
Not stupid, but maybe you did not read the manual.t0nyt wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2024 3:05 pm This is probably a stupid question, but then I can be quite stupid![]()
It should start the support ROM for the accelerated CPU. There should be a message for that on the QL video output.t0nyt wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2024 3:05 pm But when I use the QIMSI Gold SD card the QL hangs at the Minerva F1/F2 screen
Yes, if you want to see the output of the accelerated CPU.t0nyt wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2024 3:05 pm Is it a case that when using the QIMSI Gold SD card I MUST have an external display connected please?
Yes correct. All expected behaviourt0nyt wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2024 6:06 pm
From what you say then this is all expected behaviour with QL_ROM.sys present on the SD
