Rich is in the news!
Re: Rich is in the news!
Good article!
It's interesting to see that industry still has a requirement to keep some retro gear in a running state. It's amazing how many people take backups on older media and then don't keep the hardware around to actually read them again

Re: Rich is in the news!
Great interview and very interesting insight into RWAP (like the interviewer, I also thought it was pronounced R-wrap
).
Interesting to hear Rich say the ZX81 is his big earner. I bought my own 81 from Rich himself at a multi format fair up in, I think, Preston many years ago
Also manned the CGH stall while Rich Alexander went to get some lunch.
Happy days.
Thank goodness for people like Rich who help keep our favourite machines going all these years later.

That's a great interview! In particular I admired Rich's jump from ZX81 straight to QL (ZX83)
But mainly I just wanted to tune in to praise his professionalism - whenever I needed something he would always be there - software, hardware, or a piece of friendly advice. He is indeed a person with a big heart who keeps our QL/retro community going. Thanks Rich!!

Yup, me too...ZX81 to the QL, skipping the Spectrum. Of course I'm in the US so there was no Spectrum

Re: Rich is in the news!
HI,
Nice video...
I am not sure about the statements about "No open source QL implementation of Superbasic"
Since SMSQ/E and Minerva source code is freely available, which covers SuperBASIC and SBASIC, but they need an emulator to run in.
The QL emulators are also open source:
SMSQmulator - Java open source
sQLux - open source
QPC2 - freely available, but closed source
QLAY - freely available, but closed source
Nice video...

Re: Rich is in the news!
I took it as meaning a version of SuperBASIC which runs natively on a PC rather than within another program....Derek_Stewart wrote: Sat Jan 21, 2023 9:34 am HI,
