Bored of the Rings (game)
In an idle moment recently, I fired up a Spectrum emulator and played around with some games. One of these was Bored of the Rings (the re-release version by Zinobi software, although it was originally created by Delta 4)
Anyway, when I died, it asked me if I wanted to play again. When I declined, it flashed up a banner across the screen saying "Now buy the QL version".
So, was a QL version ever released? I don't recall it if so.
I've just rerun it to make sure I'm not imagining it, and yes, it does say that there is a QL version. See attachment.

Did you click on the red text line? I guess it would have taken you to a webshop where you could buy it
Jokes aside, I am not aware there ever was a QL version.

Re: Bored of the Rings (game)
I definitely do not remember a QL version - although maybe something should be added to the QL Wiki about this...
Was Bored of the Rings written with Quill?
I am sure with the number of utilities around, it should be possible to extract the data from Spectrum Quill'd adventures and get them to work on the QL... Maybe using Alan Pemberton's program to convert a Quill adevnture to SuperBASIC?

Theres a wee bit about it here:

It does say it was written with Quill.
Cheers,
Norm.

Re: Bored of the Rings (game)
For Spectrum's Quill was an adventure writing software program (I had a copy), quite different from Quill the QL word processor.

Re: Bored of the Rings (game)
Quill for the Spectrum was ported to the QL by Gilsoft and ended up as "Quill Adventure Writer" ("Quill the word processor" came later than "Quill for the Spectrum", so it was definitely legit (but still confusing) for Gilsoft to keep the name.
I never had a copy, but http://qlwiki.theqlforum.com/doku.php?id ... :the_quill has a bit of information on it.

In fact, Tim Gilby (the owner of Gilsoft) is on these forums and started a thread looking for later versions of the QL Quill (Adventure writer) - http://www.theqlforum.com/viewtopic.php? ... 98&p=16733

Re: Bored of the Rings (game)
Thinking about it, a friend of mine (Chris Wild, author of the Lords of Midnight remakes on Mac, PC and mobiles) knows Fergus McNeill, the author of the Delta 4 games. I'll ask him to ask Fergus whether he remembers anything about it.
Who knows, there may be a microdrive lying about somewhere with the code for QL Bored on it!

Re: Bored of the Rings (game)
From Chris:
"
It was started but never finished. He doesn’t remember much more than that.
He has no knowledge of any surviving code or assets.
He said that it was a friend from school doing the work, and he just didn’t have the time anymore. They wanted to continue with it, but just couldn’t get anyone to work on it. After all, he himself had more pressing projects.
