It was a succesor of XChange if I understand right.

Arcplus Limited, the company behind this PC based improved version of Archive, were wound up in 1991.

It is unknown what the copyright position is.

However, I have spotted the former directors on Facebook and sent them a message - we shall see if they get the message and reply, you never know.

No - there has been no response - remember that unless you are friends with someone on Facebook, the messages are not very obvious!
