Re: Superfast Mandelbrot
This brings back memories. When Lau Reeves wasn't crafting Minerva code he was working on his Mandelbrot speed trials. No idea if there was any connection

Re: Fluffy Dice for your Sinclair QL
I was a founder member of Peter Rowells group and we started in Lolworth. I'm pretty sure the picture was taken in Lolworth Village Hall. A very busy group at one time. We were also at Coton for a while. PCs were moving in by then.

Re: MDUMP TASK ?
Thanks for testing. It hangs on my Minerva QL with Trump Card and vDrive attached. Guess it’s deconstruction time…

Or have it recompiled under LiberatorDerek_Stewart wrote:Hi,
MDUMP_task is a Turbo compiled programme, so maybe this could be decompiled and debugged to all QL Rom platforms.

Re: MDUMP TASK ?
imho mdump is a microdrive dump program so i would try with a microdrive image
It is. But I think the only place you'd really want to use mdump_task would be on a real QL to make dumps of real cartridges. I can't think of a use for it in an emulator.

Re: MDUMP TASK ?
Yeah on a MacOS that's not there - there is a folder "QL Software" but I don't see it there.
However I did find a floppy IMG file of it but when I try to run EW MDUMP_TASK it throws up because HEX$, REPORT and something else aren't loaded.

MDUMP TASK ?
I bought the v2 QEmulator package for MacOS and reading the manual mentions MDUMP TASK utility for imaging microdrives - except I don't seem to have it in my QL Software folder as expected. I don't see it as a download on the QEM site, nor can I find it in the usual suspects.....

Re: Still possible to get Minerva ROM
Ah yes, OK, same concept but achieved by different means :) Pretty sure those things didn't exist back in the day - we used long-pin turned sockets (designed for thick multi-layer PCBs, I believe). Got the scaling wrong on Mk I and the pin pitch was just fractionally under 0.1", requiring a bit of ...

Re: Miracle Winchester
Lau said he has all his QL stuff in a lockup somewhere. It might still boot, who knows?
I still have mine, bought in 1990 (£445, at the time I decided to go for MHD instead of a Atari Falcon - I didn't like the GEM front end - regret it now :( ). It still works OK (very noisy though) , Lau might ...
