Re: Wondering if a "dead test" ROM is feasible on the QL.

I think the easiest option is to use the pcb from here https://github.com/alvaroalea/QL_Rom_Cartridge . the full rom cartridge version.

tofro wrote: Sat May 10, 2025 10:28 am Seems to play nicely with sqlux, although I can't hear any sound there.
QPC is a bit hesitant to run it.
And the BBQL of course likes it ;)
have you set a sound level in the ini file on sqlux?
SOUND = 10
something like that. without it sqlux wont give sound.

In case you want more choices, QPC2 works perfectly fine with Wine

Excepty for physical access to floppies! I can confirm the above as I've been using WPC2 since it came out, on Linux, under wine.

Cheers,

Re: Sinclair QL no Video Fault

Some TV's retain an analogue tuner, but tuning it is a PITA also getting a good quality picture is even harder. However I would look into that as it will show 'proof of life'. Personally I think the cheapest option on the market for a good picture to a monitor is the picoVGA. I knocked one up using ...

Re: Sinclair QL no Video Fault

Here are a few ideas. Quite a few 'SCART TO HDMI' are only wired as composite only. The RF would be fairly non-standard too. In your first post you state that the mdv spins up after pressing F1/F2. if you are not running minerva, then yes I would say you are right in thinking the fault is ONLY the ...

Re: Sinclair QL no Video Fault

The modern monitor may not be capable of displaying the QLs output. I would recommend trying the picovga or output to a TV. A good option for this is the composite output. Also look into refelting those mdvs before trying them.
