Hello,

I have an unmodified QL that I've dusted off and brought back to life. All is all expected MDV2 runs continuously when I issue a dir or format command (or any drive command for that matter). The old service manual suggests replacing the ZX551 transistor (TR6). Before I pull out the soldering iron, any thoughts on less invasive fixes? MDV1 works like a champ.

Why not swap MDV2- for a QL-SD?

Does the drive still spin continuously if you dir it while empty?
