Linux + Wine + QPC

As a long-past QL user (I bought my first in 1984) I fancied playing again after watching Marcel Kilgus' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yU0ptNyNqcI video.

I'm attempting to use QPC via Wine as my PC runs Linux, but although it boots, it's then stuck at this:

occasionally with a static mouse pointer, and does nothing in response to keyboard activity.

Any suggestions?

I'm on Linux Mint 22.1 Vera, wine and QPC2 and have been using that setup, with previous versions of Mint, for years. It works perfectly most of the time.

One Wine problem that I have is when I minimise QPC, it hangs completely and the close button doesn't respond. I have to wait for the system to tell me that its dead and should I kill it.

Also, check your Wine installation.(apt search wine | grep ^i) make sure you have all the same version numbers. I had a problem a while back with a mix of versions. In the end I removed them all and installed from winehq.

I seem to remember that the latest version of wine hangs up QPC as well,I will check my laptop and see what versions I have installed. I have notes, somewhere, with what worked and what didn't.

I've just moved house and not unpacked yet. If I don't get back in a couple of days, give me a reminder. Thanks.

Cheers,
Norm.
