Startup shows white screen with black lines

Hi, I wonder if someone could help please?

I'm trying to help my father-in-law get his QL going, and we connected it up with an RGB scart cable and all we're getting is a white screen with black lines on it. Any suggestions on where to look next please?

Thanks very much for the link. In the end I sent the QL to https://www.mutant-caterpillar.co.uk and it turned out the the 74LS245 buffer chip for the data bus had failed.
