I’ve no idea what an HBC connector is but I use these (2.54mm SIL Turned Pin M/F) connectors. Fairly easy to attach to ribbons and easy to plug into mobo. Obviously need to be careful when unplugging from mobo not to pull out ribbon but I’ve had no issues and I’m really butter fingered

If you refer to microdrive ribbons, the best solution is t0nyt's. I have found them in aliexpress.

Hi

If you have low temp solder paste then use that and solder the ribbon cable to the turned pin connector

Rounded pins are great.
Also I would advice you IDC male connector. Check out my video about how to install an MPD and you will understand what I mean.
Of course... it implies that perhaps you must also solder something (or not) in the MDVs PCB
