MicroP Controller with Minerva Issue

Post by t0nyt »

I have a MicroP Floppy Controller that works ok on a QL with JM ROM fitted but on my main Minerva 1.98a1 QL it doesn't work

Initially I got a load of code coming up behind the Minerva boot screen so I cleaned the connector and now at the boot screen I just start to get random corruption at the very bottom of the screen and it locks up. Without the card the Minerva QL is working fine

So I tried the MicroP card in a JM ROM QL and it seems to work fine in that one

Are there any known issues with using the MicroP floppy controller (Micro P QL FDC v5.1) with Minerva please?

Many thanks

The only possibility I can think if is if your Minverva also has TK2, and the floppy interface is set for the ROM port address...

TK2 is disabled on the ROM, but it could be a QIMSI clash in that case. Will test

Many thanks

Still works in JM QL with QIMSI plugged in, so definitely seems to be Minerva related

possible issue with the edge connector (like a pin that's bent and shorting out maybe?)

Don’t think so

Can’t see any bent pins and all my other floppy controllers (various manufacturers) and other expansion boards are working fine in the Minerva QL

Many thanks

Which firmware has the MicroP controller, the original (with FDK device rather than FLP) or the replacement QJump?

And if it does still have the original software the next (serious) question would be: Why???
