i don't know how similar is the unexpanded ql sound processor compared with some simple pulse sound processors (like sn76489), besides having less channels and frequency precision (and that ql has no 1bit beeper like zx-spectrum, of course...)

so, seeing that is possible on sn76489 - https://www.smspower.org/Development/SamplePlayback - from an unexpanded ql would be not that different?

what do you all think? did anyone try something like this, or is about to try?

Well, the QL does in fact only have a "one-bit beeper" like the ZX Spectrum. The improvement is: It's not driven directly by the main CPU, but by a co-processor (the "IPC"). But that also has a downside: The communication between the main CPU and the PC is bit-banged serial, thus relatively slow. So the QL can't even do the impressive things the Spectrum could with its simple(r) hardware - It's basicaly like telling a ZX Spectrum what to play over a slow serial connection.
