Hi all,

downloading some software over the net which is zipped I sometimes get into trouble makim it run on Qemulator. I understand that sometimes the software looses file headers OK.

What can I do that OS X will not automatically decompress a downloaded file?

How do I unzip the software within Qemulator.

Thanks for help,

Best
Thor

OK, the first questions I did resolve already, it was just a preference in Safari which needed to be unflaged and now downloaded files will not be opend anymore automatically.

And also the second one as I can attach ZIP files directly to Qemulator.

Sorry for making you bother

Glad to read you managed to sort out the problem.

The issue of losing QL file headers on non-QL operating systems arises more and more these days as more people use QL emulators. Keeping the downloaded files in a zip file until you can get it into the 'QL' environment is the best (but not always easiest!) way to get the QL program files in without losing the executable file headers.

There is very little information it seems for the users of QL emulators on the Mac systems (unlike Linux and Windows). I'm sure that any experiences you can pass on with the OSX emulator will be very useful for new users of that system.

Mine does the auto unzip too, so thanks for pointing this out, sometimes it's not what you want.

I have uploaded a short video on how you can copy files from a zip file to a standard folder on your drive using a MAC based computer running Lion.
