QMovie v2.00

Post by mk79 »

OK, the last QMovie player release didn't quite let me drop the subject, especially as the playback was still too choppy for my taste. So today I release QMovie v2.0, a complete movie player for SMSQ/E (QPC):

As you see it's a fully WMAN enabled player, playing pretty flawlessly even at 25fps. Of course the movies are huuuuge at this rate. The file format has been re-defined, so it's not compatible anymore with the v1.00 release, but now it contains enough meta-data so the player can play any file, not just the one v1.0 did play. There are two movies included and additional movies available on the page.

See the details and get it here https://www.kilgus.net/smsqe/qmovie-player/

I wish you all a merry Christmas in advance :D

I have tested Qmovie with SMSQmulator (2.20). I had the movie file stored in an NFA directory (Unix directory) and booted from the qmovie.win file. It worked. The video and sound was little choppy and the voices seemed just a touch high pitched. I tested with the Al Bundy video.

This is because current SMSQmulator releases use 22Khz playback frequency instead of the 20kHz SSSS standard. Wolfgang has now implemented a simple re-sampling algorithm I've suggested and I've heard it works much better now..

What a Christmas present for the QL community. Great stuff, Marcel.

I gave it a 1st short try when it was released last December just days before Christmas and had a closer look at it today.

I’m highly interested in converting some of my videos to QMovie format. Can you please write a short how-to essay and list the tools to be used? Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Urs
