Toolkit

Post by Mr_Navigator »

Does anyone have the manual for the original QJUMP toolkit or super toolkit, this is missing from the QL SPG's work and we would like to put this one to bed, so to speak

Lee,

I guess you're not referring to Toolkit II, as there's lots of manuals around for that. I have found a reference to the Toolkit that was included in the PCML disk interface which I suppose would be the "original" Toolkit 1 here:
http://www.sinclair.hu/speccyalista/kon ... t_v007.pdf

Hope this helps,
Tobias

Hi,

The manuals are on Dilwyn's web site, in PDF or epub formats.

Hi Derek, I can only find Toolkit II manuals not Toolkit.

Incidentally the PCML document that Tofro pointed me to is on Dilwyn's site and one I re-wrote in Word Document form

However if anyone knows or has the original documentation to the original Toolkit software, we would appreciate a copy.

Regards Lee

I have made a scan of the documentation I received with a SuperToolkit EPROM complete with an EPROM caddy from CARE electronics in 1985. It is 24 loose leaf pages meant to be put in QL user guide. Most of what it contains has been covered in later documents already reproduced on Dilwyn's website.

The EPROM is labelled SuperToolkit and the documentation refers to it as SuperToolkit (not tk2), but the eprom banner is v2.08

The pages are laid out better than scanned stuff and it contains illustrated cover. File size is 4.7Mb

PM your email address if you would like a copy.

The SuperToolkit and Toolkit II are exactly the same

The original QL Toklit manual is only A5 and whilst in a loose leaf folder would probably not be easy to scan.

All,

I very much doubt the original Toolkit (1) was sold for a long time. It used to be advertised by Sinclair only for half a year or so after the first machines were out. (Apparently the breakup between TT & Sinclair ended this deal.)

I do think, however, that Toolkit 1 was just a sub-set of what was later called Toolkit 2, so the manuals should be usable for both (just with quite a number of commands not present in TK1). That's why I thought the TK that was built into the PCML disk interface could have been TK 1 (early enough, sub-set of TK2 only).

Other than for preservation purposes and maybe collector's value I don't see much point in having it. I do understand, however, the point of "complete is complete".

Tobias

We have preserved Toolkit 1 - just not the manual - I was surprised to find that it was lots of different files and routines rather than just the one machine code extension, so the manual definitely needs scanning!

Oh. Interesting.

Can you please elaborate a bit on what was actually included with the original toolkit?

Thanks
Tobias
