Snipped from the Board Index page:

Registered users: Baidu [Spider], pjw

Hmm, I wonder how a Baidu spider managed to register..

Baidu spider is supposed to be a web crawler for the Chinese Baidu search engine.

Generally, it is recommended to block them completely using .htaccess, as it is not very probable they find anything Chinese here except maybe VP's KungFu movies ;) - Wonder how many Chinese readers we have?

Baidu, Google, Bing spiders etc are classed as members by any phpBB installation so far as I know...

Baidu is a bit senseless, as it's looking for Chinese glyphs only.....

Haha I like it

I wonder one day if it will say Horace and the [spiders]

Just to add they aren't actually registered members, it has a separate thing to handle spiders.

Rich is correct, the web spiders have accounts by default in phpBB, we can disable them individually if needed. I can't see any harm in them though. (Famous last words!)

Just to confirm, the private Quanta Members forum isn't indexed by any spiders.
