Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold
Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold
Thanks and my apologies. The manual probably lacks clarity then. I have tried to provide a lot of flexibilty for QIMSI Gold, but unfortunately that also makes the system quite complex.t0nyt wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2024 6:06 pm I have read the manual (multiple times), I just didn't put everything together correctly in my mind

Definitely no need for any apology
Everything’s in the manual, I just hadn’t twigged what made it work either as a normal Qimsi or gold Qimsi when it really should of been obvious to me (as the sys file now stands out like a sore thumb) and therefore when nothing happened on boot I got a bit confused!
Looking forward to my video lead arriving tomorrow
Many thanks
Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold
Dear QL fellows,
I would like to give a brief update about the QIMSI Gold.
The first batch is already depleted and we are in discussion about the production of the second batch with the assembly fab. We hope to finalize the discussion until end of June and place the order. Production time depends on the availability and delivery time of the parts, so kindly be a little patient. Once received I need to solder the RTC chips as well as the battery (super cap in fact) and test each single QIMSI Gold, which will also take some time. I will then work through the waiting list by groups. The effort in testing, compiling and sending the software package is much bigger comparing to the QIMSI (Standard). Keep in mind, I do this in between daylight job, family and all other duties.
Looking back into the past of QIMSI (Standard):
About 15% from the list of interested people did not reply to my Email(s). If you feel that something got wrong with the Email, probably lost, spam folder or whatever and you still waiting for information, kindly contact me by PN. There will be no more QIMSI Standard as of today. The QIMSI Gold will have same functionally and I will put you in the QIMSI Gold waiting list instead.
Best regards,
Stephan

Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold
Hallo Peter,
I suspect a 'sensible price' will vary with different people based on their QL passion & disposable income. I've never been 'a man of the people' so can't answer your question in general.
In regards to what is a sensible price for me. If it was under £300, I suspect I'd click the 'Buy Now' fairly quickly. If it costs between £300 and £400, I'd think seriously about buying, but may not! If it was above £400, I'd use that money towards buying an Intel 14900k or AMD 9950x CPU & Motherboard and use a QL emulator. What may be obvious to you is that I have no clue what a 68060 computer would cost to produce.
I should also highlight that any new QL related purchase could be seen as pure self indulgence as I already have BB QL with SGC, Windows PC running QPC2, Linux PC running QL Emulators, 2 x 68k Apple computers running QL emulators, Apple Mac Mini M1 running QL emulator and last but not least Q68 (Thank you Peter & Derek).
I hope you have a good wekend.
Gruss/Regards,
Peter.

Got my cable (miniHDMI to HDMI) but doesn’t work with my screen sadly (signal out of range)
Have ordered a miniHDMI to VGA instead to try, so will have to wait until Monday to give it another go

That would be the first HDMI monitor that does not work, out of about 15 tested.t0nyt wrote: Sat Jun 15, 2024 8:01 pm Got my cable (miniHDMI to HDMI) but doesn’t work with my screen sadly (signal out of range)
Did you connect to an actual HDMI monitor or is it DVI ? Martyn had a problem with the latter.

Due to having limited space at the moment all my retro systems hook up (thru various connections) to an oldish Sony TV (e.g. my QL & TI-99/4a systems are all connected via VGA, C64 via s-vhs, MS PC via HDMI, etc etc)
Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold
Oh well, that's gutting.
With a VGA connection, the display scrolls in and then goes out of sync, then scrolls in and goes out of sync again constantly
I'll have to use the Qimsi Gold as a Qimsi for the foreseeable future until I have room for a proper monitor sometime

Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold
This behaviour is really strange. Do you have something in between the video line? HDMI or VGA switch or whatever?
We already tested many different monitors and HDMI to VGA adapters successful. Can you kindly share some images?
Can you borrow another monitor from a friend to test?
Thanks!
Stephan
