Component Advice Please?
Re: Component Advice Please?
I did have round pins, but couldn’t find them so used those as it’s not going to be plugged into a QL motherboard. Will get some more though
Will tidy up the highlighted joints when I have a chance (and check those not in the image), thanks
Once I’ve tested the full functionality (& I2C) I’ll make one up with round pins and no sockets
Many thanks

Re: Component Advice Please?
Do you have height enough to close the QL case using these pins and sockets for every IC? The space is very limited.
Re: Component Advice Please?
He has told that is going to use it outside the QL. I guess some special model of QL that is not the "original".javier2112 wrote: Wed May 14, 2025 8:38 pm Do you have height enough to close the QL case using these pins and sockets for every IC? The space is very limited.
That is why he used this type IDC pins (the best for connection) instead rounded type.
Re: Component Advice Please?
I also built the original few months ago, you can't close QL case, maybe if ditch the sockets (not sure). I have created my self a smd version mainly because of that.javier2112 wrote: Wed May 14, 2025 8:38 pm Do you have height enough to close the QL case using these pins and sockets for every IC? It looks very nice! Have you published your solution? It'd be very helpful for other users.Arleybls wrote: Thu May 15, 2025 7:14 amI also built the original few months ago, you can't close QL case, maybe if ditch the sockets (not sure). Haven't published yet, still need to test the i2c as well. The battery holder fits a cr927, I am yet to see if the timekeeper current req of the smd pcf will make this a usuable solution. It looks very nice! Have you published your solution? It'd be very helpful for other users.
That said, i can ofc share the gerbers if someone is also willing to test this (schematics is pretty much the same as the original). Just drop me a msg.
Re: Component Advice Please?
To fit the 74LS133 on the underside of the pcb I’m going to have to bend all the IC legs upwards
Any tips on how to do this without breaking them please?
Many thanks

Re: Component Advice Please?
The pins will surely break when you bend them upwards.

Re: Component Advice Please?
I am afraid that will not do any good given the socket type on the QL is not hollow (at least on minet0nyt wrote: Fri May 16, 2025 7:08 pm To fit the 74LS133 on the underside of the pcb I’m going to have to bend all the IC legs upwards
