I was given a non-working Qsound board many years ago, which someone had tried modify the board and overheated the through plating on the PCB tracks.
I asked Jochen at a Quanta Workshop in the 1990s about the Qsound rom code, which he really was not bothered about discussing the code.
I have been repairing PCBs with this type of fault, so I hoped get the Qsound board running after 20 years of sitting in box.
However, someone wanted to remake the Qsound board, so I sent the faulty Qsound board for drawing up the circuit diagram.
This has never been done, he says the board will be returned, never bothers.

Well, I certainly don't want to be judged by code I wrote 30 years ago

Granted, I was 11 at the time and only started writing 68k assembler but I shudder even at the code I wrote 20 years ago

There have been quite a lot of "leasons learned" since then...

I sometimes shudder at the code I wrote 20 minutes ago!
Cheers,
Norm.

so i make a simulation for the q sound q print PCB.... i can se all the joints at pcb on botom...
but i dont know some connections on top.....its hidden by the chips......
OR the values of the tantalioum?? cap transistor?? maybe is a bs250 by guess....or the small cap near to the 7805
has any one the schematics? i will be glad to re design the qprint-qsound

Sorry, but why bother? There is no software with which the board needs to be compatible with and any newly built solution should feature at least a real crystal for AY clock and two AY chips IMHO.

Maybe the detective work, the historical reverse engineering, is the challenge here... even I was tempted for a second, although I'd find a card without extension bus passthrough useless, no matter one or two AY chips.

for historical reasons i think its worth to make the schematic for archive...ho knows some one on the future say aok nice .....

I only contentplated this, mainly to repair my Qsound board.
I have part done a Qsound Schematic, but I need my Board back to check the exact circuit routing.
I was going to alter the driver code to integrate into the QL sound system by giving a more expansive BEEP command.

Here's my take on it, if it's any help
