Re: QL's external MDV port
Hey, great news. I'm glad you found the problem.
I had been scratching my head, because I could not see anything wrong...

“There are four lights!”
Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb

Looking forward to summer in Somerset later in the year

QL, Falcon, Atari 520STFM, Atari 1040STE, more PC's than I care to count and an assortment of 8 bit micros (Sinclair and Acorn)(nearly forgot the Psion's)

Hi Charles,
Thank you for taking your interest, R/W test alright, format due to test.
You may follow my MDV observations here, where I have had some questions regarding R/W and Erase head resistance.

Re: QL's external MDV port
Hi,
I have designed another PCB, that swaps signals on the left edge, so is useful to connect with ribbon cable.
Each board has insignia 'mPort', the one that swaps signals has an 'X', so I can connect in theory up to 6 external drives. Doing that, only one 'mPort-X', and 5 'mPort's are needed.

Can any other device be connected to the expansion board.

Hi Derek,
mPort allows connecting only QL MD units in a chain, up to 6 in total.
I am not much into electronics, and all my ventures in this respect are that of a hobbyist, but I can imagine other devices complying with 'MD-BUS' protocol (which I believe is similar to serial line) can be connected.
