Don't forget that us UK dwellers suffer from British rip off banking charges for sending money to banks aboard.
Personally as I more or less have to use Paypal for most eBay transactions, for buying items from abroad it is easier and cheaper than low value bank transfers.

Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb :!:
Looking forward to summer in Somerset later in the year :)

Rich,

I use Stripe as my CC processor - they accept credit and debit. I believe they have very reasonable transaction fees, no contract and no monthly charges in the UK too: https://stripe.com/gb/pricing

Paul,

I happily accept PayPal, but I'd prefer to barter for a QL-SD ;)

That's exactly why I won't use PayPal. I paid this way once. It worked, but PayPal silently created a "skeleton" for me in their database, which must have been sort of a crippled account. At some point, PayPal said it was required to log into "my" account. But of course I could not, because there was no working account. I contacted their support repeatedly, but they were unable to correct this. They were also unable to remove the "skeleton" from their database. I won't trust company for banking purposes, which has shown so much incompetence.

Weird - it only seems to do this if a PayPal account has been opened with the email address you use - I have used the same email address several times to deal with various people who want to pay me over the phone....

I had a quick look at Stripe - yes that is a possibility for people who want to pay me - but no good for third party sellers on www.SellMyRetro.com as they would have to operate their own Stripe accounts too...

Since you have your own auction site code (I think you wrote it, right?) can't you incorporate something like Stripe, then allow people to create Stripe accounts and enter their own Stripe keys in their ads?

If you did write that code (I don't know where I got that notion) do you license it? A US version of the site would go down a storm.

Wow... all sold already. It seems that people are not that much opposed to open their QL case.

Thank you very much Paul for all your work.

Did that meet expectations or was everyone expecting them to sell more slowly? :)

Well no trader, no shop, and no ads. The only practical way to find the auction was to closely follow this forum. Also I had been warned a lot about making QL-SD internal.

Given those circumstances, I have to admit that I didn't expect QL-SD to sell that quickly. ;)

I think there are a few issues at work here:

1. A shortage of QL floppy disk interfaces and PCs with no floppy drives - it is the right time for flash memory storage systems now
2. It took a while to become available in small quantities and was VERY well publicised in the meantime, so ... was it marketed by Sinclair by any chance?
3. This is the 30th year of the QL, the Forum has been extremely active this year and a lot of hardware projects (personal and commercial) are ongoing.
4. Dave/Sandy have stimulated interest in the hardware market - the situation with QL-SD augurs (hope that's the right word in English, "argoeli'n" in Welsh, had to try to Google the English) well for Dave and his forthcoming projects.

You only have to look at the membership of this Forum to realise more and more people are slowly returning to using a QL, the German QL forums (which I occasionally read with Bing Translate) show there's more QL users now in Germany than I thought, for example.
