Hi,

I did ask about the code to this demo, but no one wanted to even talk about it.

Probably best to convert the 6502 source code to 68K.

Derek

As people will have noticed, the Preservation Project continues to have results, with a few more titles having been re-released over the past few weeks.

However, please don't leave finding all of the copyright holders and contacting them up to me - there are lots of people to track down and contact out there and I can't do it all !!

There are still plenty of ways in which people can help with the project....

I've gone off bourbons since the gluten free manufacturers altered the recipe for their buscuits - could it be a rich tea powered shoestring?

At least we are continuing to make some progress - even managed to find a copy of 3D Slime without the copy protection :)

If anyone is following the thread - in the past few weeks, we have achieved:

a) Re-release of Farmer by Talent (commercial program)
b) Re-release of Here We Go, and Quizmaster (plus Quizmaster II) as freeware. Also got permission to re-release The Gee Gee System if anyone can find a copy!
c) Release of QPAC1 and QPAC2 as freeware
d) Re-discovery of public domain version of QL Home Finance
e) Re-discovery of shareware version of Q.A.T.S.
f) Re-release of Concept 3D as freeware
g) Re-release of several CAD programs as freeware (or at least some were re-discovered as missing from the Sinclair QL Homepage).

We still need help - people to dig around and see which former QL contacts they can find, and/or what software they have lying about....

More achievements have been

- license obtained to add the A.R.K. programs (Spy, MasterSpy and various Archive based programs) to the Sinclair QL Homepage
- various EPROM images made from hardware EPROMs - images passed to Dilwyn to add to the Sinclair QL Homepage.

Current work

- trying to get a response from HiSoft to agree to re-release their titles....
So far as I know, there was the HiSoft Assembler and HiSoft Monitor packages (both written by Andy Pennell whom I have spoken with).

Were there other titles?

- trying to ascertain the position regarding Gigasoft / ABC Elektronik software....

Who else do we need to track down....
- Aholasoft from Jokela, Finland (run by Jussi Koskinen) - they published Sam the Little Spaceman - it was a great game that I reviewed for QL World (and made some changes to, but I can't find my copy anywhere....)
- English Software (run by Philip Morris) - they published Hyperdrive

I have now been in contact with Philip Morris, owner of English Software.

Unfortunately, he has stated that Hyperdrive is not to be released as freeware - ie. it is permission denied. :(

A pity. Does he imagine that there is a commercial market for it still? I can't see the logic myself, but it's his right of course.

Out of interest, what percentage (roughly) of those you manage to contact give permission for freeware/open sourcing/free license, and what percentage refuse permission?
