The bug affected only Pitmanq_obj (the QDOS version of the program - but that version is present in all archives). Thank you Robert for finding the bug!
Bug Description:
On real unexpanded QL with only 128k RAM the program crashes on QUIT and sometimes crashes when Level, Restart or Animation Delay windows are closed.
Cause:
Barely enough memory for program + data, plus memory fragmentation.
Solution:
I modified some parts of the QDOS program. Now it needs about 14k less memory for data and the compiled program is 2k shorter.

Also added the source code zip.
Hi Andrew,
I wanted to try your game,
But... the last post warning about update, the MDV image has an older date than the previous one.
Is it right?

Thank you

The mdv image file has the same date in all archives 29.02.2024 - that's the date when I created the blank mdv image that I used, not the date when I copied Pitman on the image
The latest executable for QDOS is the one from my latest update: pitmanq_obj - size 37276 bytes
I downloaded my latest update and checked the files - they are all correct.

Edit:
Works great the last version you published :)

Has anyone tried this with SMSQmulator? It executes, but the main screen is just blue. If I CTRL-C to switch out of the game and then CTRL-C back, the screen is updated, but the movement keys do not work. I know the game is running as the timer is working.

I tried to run SMSQumulator for Java 21/ Java 17/ Java 11 on my PC (Windows 10 Pro + Java 8 update 421) but failed with error "A Java exception has occurred"
I do not use Linux, nor do I have a Raspberry Pi, so Pitman was not tested on SMSQumulator.

Obviously you need a JAVA 8 version of SMSQmulator. You could kindly ask Wolfgang about this.
That would have the added benefit that he can see I'm not the only one using JAVA 8.
There is no JRE for the newer JAVA versions and I do not want to install a huge SDK.

...work great on the Q68.

No need to slow machine down, the game has been really well written.

Hi!

I have a problem with your game... I like it very much :)
So how many levels has it?
Is there a way to save the last level reached?

Great job
Thank you :)

There are 101 levels.
Tou can save the last level reached by remembering it's number :)
There is no need to play the levels in any particular order. You can select the level that you want to play using L - Level or f3 -Nivel (for spanish)
