Davide Santachiara is organising a QL event in Italy on 18th May - I sent an email out today to the Italian Sinclair users on my database (373) to notify them of this event -
Unfortunately, my continuing health problems mean that I have been unable to organise an event in the UK (no-one came forward willing to help organise it !)
There are funds set aside to run an event and the Scottish QL user group have been looking into an event in Edinburgh - the problem is that their discussion took place on the ql-users mailing list rather than on the forums... I seem to recall that they were struggling to find somewhere which could be used for 2 days...
The Scottish organiser can't please everyone. They just need to book it and tell people when it is so they can make their travel plans before it's too short notice.
Speaking as only a recent QL user, and having followed this thread since last year, I have to admit that I am not sure what a QL is 30 event would be about, or what its purpose would be, beyond a group of people getting together and saying 'hurrah'. As such, I can't really build much personal enthusiasm for what would currently seem to be a rather nebulous event. Having organised conferences, workshops and meetings myself as part of my work, I know that there really needs to be some imagination applied to justify such an event and to get in the punters... Just advertising it as 'the QL has made it through 30 years' doesn't really seem to have generated much enthusiasm: hence the lack of real progress towards an event.
Personally, what I would be REALLY interested in would be some event in which some of the experts from this forum, QUANTA and perhaps even some of those involved in the development of the QL (and associated gadgets, Dave?) being brought together to present a 'how to be inspired with a QL' event, and one that is very practical in nature. Just something a little more dynamic than a retrospective view over 30 years. Although I have not been to one, I am thinking more on the lines of the energy and enthusiasm that is projected from a Raspberry Jam type event... now in my view that would be worth buying into... Perhaps this is what is intended by the QL is 30 event, but I haven't yet seen the big idea that would make such an event 'tick'.
Apologies if I have offended anyone, but hopefully some of you can see where I am coming from? As I said, I am new to all this scene, and perhaps there is a clear format to such an event, but as yet, I haven't really been sold on the idea, and am not sure why I would want to attend (other than to perhaps meet some of the forum members in person, of course!).

Unpacking a JS-ROM QL, with a QL-SD and SuperQBoard, and busily refelting millions of microdrives
Being in the US, it's hard to turn up in person, but I am happy to do the following:
A one hour show and tell via Skype with video and audio, showing what I have done, work in progress, and showing the mechanical prototypes of future products we're working on. I'm happy to use the first 30 minutes showing and telling, and then remaining time doing a Q and A.
QUANTA has, now added an extra page to it's Web Site containing two new PayPal Payment buttons which can be used to pay for the dinner at the QL is 30 event.
In an effort to limit the possibility of misuse by the general public who have general access to this site, this new page has not been added to the navigation details and will therefore be difficult for anyone
to find without the following info:-
