Printer Cable for SGC

Hi Derek,

I'm looking for an "of the era" cable as supplied with the SGC according to magazine adverts of the time (be that Miracle systems or the re-seller supplying it, the latter sounds more likely) for my QL collection

I'm not in any rush as I have the 2 working cables I've made, but if someone comes across this thread in the future who has one they'd like to offload I just wanted to make sure they'd know I'd still be interested

What magazine adverts?

Miracle Systems used to make a QL SER1/2 to Parallel Port with Centronics connector.

Qubbesoft, used to make a SGC Parallel port cable.

If I could of bought one when the SGC came out, I would of done so, instead of making one. So I am interested who was supplying a SGC Parallel Port Cable.

If memory serves, My SGC was one of a special batch that Quanta had made, and it came with the parallel cable I have. (And a Quanta pen?)

Although I've been unable to find it (probably in a box buried in the attic) I thought I had a parallel printer cable that came with my SGC. As others said none was supplied with it, I assumed I was mistaken and had probably bought it independently. The SGC is nowadays in a cased Aurora, which has a D connector on the case, so the original cable hasn't been used for some time. Must bravely venture into my attic sometime to find it to see if there's anything to jog my mind where it came from.

I think the adverts I saw were in magazines on archive.org but for some reason I can’t access that site currently

I looked in the later QL World mags on my site (sadly not text-searchable) and couldn't find Miracle ads which mentioned the printer cable. It looks like the SGC got launched AFTER the demise of QL World - I saw a mention in International QL Report implying the SGC was only launched at an Edinburgh QL workshop in either early 1994 or late 1993.

But I did find this advert in IQLR from Miracle Systems where it does mention the cable being provided at no extra cost, but no picture.

Sad about archive.org, as Derek said, 31 million user details stolen about 5 days ago, with the hacker leaving a "See you on Have I Been PWNed" or similar message on their site.

This is the cable that came with my original SGC.
The SGC was bought from ebay about 6 years ago and it came with the original manual and this cable.
