Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold
Hi
My experience on the Q68 PS/2 Mice, is that some Mouses have their PS/2 plug wired the same as the PS/2 Keyboard and the Computer usually Windows, Linux or MAC differentiates between the keyboard and mouse data transmissions.
This a cost solution, rather like making all Floppy Disk drive DS1 and altering the cable to give DS0.
The fault shown on the posted photograph is the Mouse Data and Clock lines being connected to the Keyboard lines, which the QIMSI and Q68 does not like.
I have to make a Mouse adapter cable that takes the mouse data and clock lines to the correct pins for the Q68. Seems this is the same for QIMSI/GOLD as well.

ok. thanks. the Logitech R250 that I have is listed in your compatibility list, strange... But who know.
Just to be sure:
- it is expected that the QIMSI Gold hang on the message "PC.CLOCK 4294967295" if the mouse isn't recognised?
- Is the mouse driver installed by default in the Q68_SMSQ.WIN container that is in the archive of the QIMSI Gold? In other words, if I boot the provided container and type "lrun win8_boot", will the mouse work directly?
Thanks!

ok. But my mouse don't have a PS/2 plug, but a USB one. How can the signal been mixed then? I assume I muss find a PS/2 to usb adapter....Derek_Stewart wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2024 3:00 pm Hi

To start at the beginning: When you boot w/o SD card and w/o mouse, there should be an information just below the line
"PC.CLOCK 4294967295" that no mouse has been detected. If you start with a proper mouse but w/o SD card, it is clearly stated in this line. So you can easily see whether your mouse is supported.
YES, no driver required as written in the manual on page Nr. 12guibrush wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2024 3:57 pm

Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold
ok, thanks for the clarification. Then I'm really out of luck, as I tried 14 different USB mouses and no one is accepted
I order a USB to PS/2 adapter and will report when it come.

Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold
What would be really good to know: Did one of them work with your QIMSI Standard (non Gold)?
Re: Announcing the new "Gold Card" - QIMSI Gold
I can try. is there a way to tell if the qimsi recognised the mouse directly without booting each time the system? I don't see any message on the screen.

Is your QIMSI Gold from the second batch?guibrush wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2024 11:51 am I have for example a Logitheck RS250 that is mentioned as PS/2 compatible:
In that case I might have caused the problem by removing the external pullup resistor for the PS/2 dara line, which was present in the first batch.
It could be that the FPGA-internal pullup is too weak for the RS250.
Removing it was needed to make the hardware capable to support actual USB mice, i.e. to allow future FPGA update for USB.
I have an FPGA version with USB support already, but did not want to create a mess, as there is no USB driver for keyboard.

Pure USB mice can not work with the current FPGA! Only PS/2 and combo mice.guibrush wrote: Sat Nov 02, 2024 5:51 pm Then I'm really out of luck, as I tried 14 different USB mouses and no one is accepted![]()
Do you need PS/2 keyboard? If not, we could think about an FPGA update with actual USB support.
