Not sure...if I could get it in spray paint form I could try it. But yes, it is awfully shiny and metal looking so perhaps not painted on.

I suspect the metallic coating is "sputtered" - it's not difficult to reproduce (liar, liar, pants on fire!) as can be seen here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OEz_e9C4KM. That one's an introduction, this one deposits copper on glass: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ih_D6OLzqo4.
