In case anyone is wondering about the new VAT rules, they were originally designed to stop large companies setting up in one country, to sell goods to other countries, but only pay the VAT of the country they set up in, even though they charged the customers the full rate for their own country. So I get charged 20%, for example, by Amazon and they pay something like 6%.

Unfortunately, as in most things EU, they fsck'd it up totally and have simply made life a steaming pile for everyone, except the big companies.

Cheers,
Norm.

Hi Norman,

I use mostly a Kindle, but epub is probably the most compatiable.

I was wondering how hard an E-Reader for the QL would be to write, probably in C...

Any chance of an ePub version?
Hi Derek,

I'll see what I can do post festivities. Any particular format?

Cheers,
Norm.

Yep, we have in Spain a VAT (called IVA) of 21%, but in books, cinema, and culture matters is just a 4%

Not wanting to derail this thread, but it is so annoying that (a) VAT exists and (b) in the UK we have such a stupidly high rate of VAT (20%, or 1/5, that's 20p in every £1 on VAT chargeable goods). If we did not have VAT, this problem would not exist... Now why can't we charge politicians per word for speaking or writing about tax rules?

Anyway, back to comments and praise the excellent assembly book 8-)

Mark
Why cant we charge 20p on everything sensible the politicians say, why cant we charge 20p on when the politicians answer a direct question and why cant we charge 20p on when the politicians make any sense when they speak? By the end of the first year we would amass erm oh! £00.00.

Greetings everyone.

After much work, some wailing, some gnashing of teeth and a good few hours typing on my phone while on holiday recently, I have finished updating the file at http://qdosmsq.dunbar-it.co.uk/download ... sembly.pdf which is the good old Assembly Language book I released into the wild just before Christmas.

Changes are:

George's observations and comments incorporated,
Numerous typos fixed,
LibGen removed until I fix it as there looks to be a chapter rewrite required,
A new, much nicer format used,
Code reformatted to not wander all over the margins,
Proper table layout,
Much nicer code layout,
Orange! (You'll have to read it to follow that one!)
375 pages of sheer bliss, and working cross references and a full, clickable index.

Please download and give copies to both your friends! :-)

Cheers,
Norm.

It is a great improvement - and the changes to the layout actually make it easier to read - it seems less dry than many assembly language books back in the day! :D
