Earlier this week I treated myself to an OSSC. (Open Source Scan Converter) - http://junkerhq.net/xrgb/index.php?title=OSSC
I've set this up today with the QL and here is the output;
QLOSSC
The shimmer effect is down to the camera, it's not visible on the screen, changing the aspect ratio to 16:9 looses the sides of the image, but 4:3 is perfect, the text is really really crisp and there is no colour bleed.
The OSSC isn't cheap at £119, but I've tried it with several computers and consoles this week and the picture quality is stunning!

If vanpeebles parps in the woods and there is nobody around, does it make a sound?
stephen_usher wrote:Yes, the OSSC is the best scan converter less than £300 and works a treat with the QL.
I think I posted about it here last year.
Did you tweak any settings on the OSSC?
I'm just using the defaults.
It's a good idea to tweak the output processing to "Line4x" for teh QL's resolution and in "Sampling Opt" "Allow TVP HPLL2x: On". These will output a higher resolution signal to the TV which will then not try to post-process and upscale itself. The OSSC does a far better job.
