Got my QL today YAY but.....

Got my QL today.

This is what I see:

Pressing F1, F2 or any key has no effect and pressing Reset has no effect.

Can you please help me trouble shoot?

Sounds like the keyboard membrane needs replacing.

Yup that's what I thought, but why doesn't RESET work?

Hi Bill,

the reset switch might have corroded contacts perhaps. I wonder if a quick squirt with switch cleaner might help. Not WD40 though, unless any of the real electronics gurus on here say otherwise.

Hi,

I would not put WD40 or any aerosol oil into any electronics.

At the bear minimum use a alcohol based IPA srpay.But you need to dismantle the Reset Switch to see what is wrong.

The contacts that perform the electrical contact to give a reset signal maybe missing.

When you get the new keyboard membrane and have fitted it, look at the reset switch.
