I just spotted this on the Quanta news section..
Assault and Punishment has been ported to the QL from the Spectrum, by Marco Cruz.
It is currently in Spanish, so does anyone fancy translating it into English - it is written in SuperBASIC, so should be fairly easy to do.
The game can be downloaded from:

Re: New Spanish Text Adventure - Assault and Punishment
I tried a sample of the programme and run it through Google translate, shown below. Unfortunately some Spanish words are used as English words and won't convert and will need a search and replace method such as Narrate into Print. Some REM statements get reversed and some meanings get lost in translation, see below and you will understand. Other than that it looks a doable project, I may do this in time for the AGM.

Re: New Spanish Text Adventure - Assault and Punishment
Good work, does sound strange though. Does it have an old historical setting?

Re: New Spanish Text Adventure - Assault and Punishment
Yes it does have a historical setting, how do I know? well I have finished translating it in to english, first by using Google translator and second by hand tiding up grammatical and other errors that crept in during that process. A complete run down in the next issue of QUANTA plus a small program I wrote to overcome modern day text issues used during the process and to cover up the 'think twice write once' procedure I managed not to employ, alas hindsight is a wonderful thing
If any one wants an English copy for trying out the adventure and testing my translation, please ask. Marcus will be putting up the English version on his Spanish website once we have sorted out version control.

Re: New Spanish Text Adventure - Assault and Punishment
I wrote the QL version of this adventure game. Thank you all for your interest. The author of the original ZX Spectrum version and I are willing to help with the English translation. But as I said to Lee Privett in April, an automatic translation needs a lot of manual revision and hard work in order to make it good English. My English is not good enough to do such a translation, but I can help confirming the actual meaning and nuances of the original Spanish text. I hope the project is not abandoned.
By the way, I'm working on a much improved version of the same adventure game, in Forth -- but not for the QL.
